Sacred Cinema: Beginners

We continue our Sacred Cinema series with Beginners, a film about a young man whose widower father comes out of the closet in his 70s and shortly after is diagnosed with terminal cancer. Through this romantic comedy/drama about how deeply funny and transformative life can be—even at its most serious moments—we explore the ways life provides opportunities to start again.

The Emerson Choir will sing “Morning Has Broken” arr. by John Leavitt.

On the fourth Friday of each month we watch a film in the Sanctuary, and then explore its themes and meanings in that Sunday’s service. Come a little early for our Friday Fun and Fellowship on September 23, for a community potluck at 6 PM, followed by a screening of Beginners at 7 PM. There will also be an All Ages Game Night as an alternative activity at 7 pm.
