Rev. Matthew McHale
David Early, Worship Associate In the early Christian church, Sophia was understood to be the embodiment of divine wisdom, appearing in the Hebrew and Christian scriptures. For centuries she was often revered as a Goddess, one of the main aspects of God. But over time Sophia was deemphasized and became less and less known. Over the past few decades, many feminist thea/ologians have reclaimed her, and this Sunday we honor the wisdom of the divine feminine.
The Emerson Choir will sing “For the Beauty of the Earth” by John Rutter.
