Sacred Cinema: Real Women Have Curves

Julie Borden, Worship Associate

Inspired by our Sacred Cinema film, Real Women Have Curves, we explore what it looks like to love yourself, and love your body, as you are.

On the fourth Friday of each month we watch a film in the Sanctuary, and then explore its themes and meanings in Sunday’s service. Real Women Have Curves will be screened at Emerson on Friday, September 22nd.  Doors open at 7:00pm. Film at 7:15. Bring a favorite movie snack and Rev. Matthew will make some gourmet popcorn!

About the movie:  Growing up in a working class family in East LA, Ana Garcia (America Ferrera in her breakout role) struggles to balance her dream of going to college with family duty and a tough economic situation. PG-13 (87 minutes).

You can also watch on Max or rent for $3.99 on various platforms:  Hulu, YouTube, Max, Amazon Prime Video, Google Play Apple TV and Vudu.
