Share the Plate
Share the Plate Sunday Collection: As part of our commitment to serve our community, we share half our Sunday offering with local organizations whose work furthers our mission.
At our June congregational meeting each year, The congregation usually votes on 5 organizations and our Reverend chooses a 6th organization that we will contribute to for a month at a time. We then rotate through each organization twice per year.
In addition, our Congregation decided that on all months with a fifth Sunday, we will use the fifth Sunday as a way to contribute to our UUA (Unitarian Universalist Association) Annual Program Fund. Formerly known as the UUA Fair Share Fund, the UUA Annual Program Fund (formerly Fair Share) is the primary source of funding for the Unitarian Universalist Association. We give so that our spirits will be enriched by the practice of generosity in community, and so that Unitarian Universalism can flourish. For more information on the APF please visit the UUA website at the following link: UUA Annual Program Fund.
The results for our 26-27 Share the Plate organizations were as follows:
- West Valley Food Pantry: 22 votes
- Camp de Benneville Pines: 19 votes
- Haven Hills: 17 votes
- CLUE Detained Immigrant Bond Fund: 15 votes
and a 3 way tie with 12 votes each for: - SFV Refugee Children Center
- Sky Valley Volunteers
- Tongva Taraxat Paxaavxa
This year there was a 3 way tie for the 5th organization between Tongva Taraxat Paxaavxa, SFV Refugee Children Center and Sky Valley Volunteers. The board agreed upon a way to handle the tie: each organization would get 1 month and two organizations would receive contributions twice. If you have questions, feel free to contact Aimee Noel at president@emersonuuc.org
