JustWeb2017, the Climate Change arm of JAM, for this one month only will meet on the first Sunday, June 4, after the potluck, from 12-1 p.m. (This change is to avoid conflicting with the Congregational Meeting on June 11.)
We will meet in Classroom 2. Philip Kuretski, Rhonda Plank-Richard, and Tracy Watson will co-facilitate.
We will continue the discussions and plans from our May meeting on how to make Emerson a greener presence within the local community and an environmental leader in the wider world.
These plans include more Memorial garden benches and the advantages of relocating the Memorial Garden; installing low-flush toilets in the church; adding tint to the Pavillion windows to keep it cooler without more AC; attic fans above the classrooms and ceiling fans in the church; bids for solar panels; how to finance going solar; encouraging environmental commuting to church with bike racks and access to electric charging stations; and getting the city to trim trees, thereby bringing sunlight on the church property.
Whether your passion is to stop climate change by community gardening, spreading green energy use, influencing legislation, or transforming the world one community at a time, there is room for you. Join us!
