“America Was Never Great: Owning Our History and Responding Faithfully to Our Present”
As our country experiences a series of moral crises related to politics, foreign policy, and social justice, we attempt to reassure ourselves by insisting that this “isn’t us/who we are,” but the truth is this IS us and always has been. To respond to these issues as people of faith committed to real and lasting change, we have to see our past and our future clearly and be committed to a liberative theology that understands that America was never great, but with commitment, love, and hope it could one day deliver on its promises of being the land of the free and home of the brave.
