Fiscal Year 2017 is well underway, and our overall income and expenditures are progressing as expected. We’re excited to bring Rev. Matthew aboard as of August 15, and Rev. Mike’s contract came to a close on the same date. We also welcomed an additional staff member, Lucy Graham, a new Sunday preschool Religious Education teacher.

With no mortgage to pay off, we are better able to make contributions to our building maintenance fund, which is great news after last year seeing the negative impact on rentals that maintenance issues like our A/C system can have. As mentioned in past reports, though, we did dip into our investment funds to help “burn the mortgage.” Hopefully, we can all work together to help build up our investments to support special projects in the future.

With respect to operating funds, our balances are sufficient to support our day-to-day activities. Thanks to everyone who gives regularly through their pledge or other means for making this possible. Speaking of pledges, Eric Rosloff is currently reviewing options for members to make pledge payments electronically using credit cards. While providing such a service would cost Emerson money, it is possible that a greater portion of pledge payments would be fulfilled with this added convenience and those payments could be made more evenly throughout the year.

Please let me know what you think about the possibility of making contributions to Emerson via credit card!
